No Planet B, The Climate Challenge
The night (and day of Geography) is an interactive climate policy simulation designed for upper secondary schools in Naples and its metropolitan area, and open to the wider public as part of the Night of Geography programme. The project actively engages students, teachers, and participants in a dynamic learning experience that brings real-world decision-making into focus. During the workshop, 30–40 participants take on the roles of key social and economic stakeholders involved in reducing CO₂ emissions at the local level. Acting as policymakers, business representatives, community leaders, and environmental advocates, they are challenged to negotiate and make strategic decisions for the future of the city. Reducing emissions is not just about setting environmental targets. Participants must balance climate ambitions with economic constraints, competing interests, and potential conflicts between sectors—mirroring the complexity of real-life policymaking.
The ultimate mission: to design and agree on effective measures capable of significantly reducing CO₂ emissions in the Municipality of Naples, in line with hypothetical European climate directives.
Main objectives: Through collaboration, debate, and negotiation, the workshop fosters environmental awareness, teamwork, and critical thinking—helping to shape active and responsible citizens ready to engage with the challenges of the ecological transition.
