On 26 May 2026, the international C.I.R.AM.–SULIEIA event titled “Climate Change: Environmental and Economic Impacts, and Sustainable Solutions” was held in the Council Room of the Department of Biology at
the University of Naples Federico II. The event focused on environmental sustainability, academic cooperation, and shared strategies to address the challenges posed by climate change.
The initiative “Climate Change: Environmental and Economic Impacts, and Sustainable Solutions”, coordinated by Professors Anna De Marco and Giulia Guerriero, brought together scholars from Suez Canal University and Alexandria University. It further strengthened an international dialogue that Professor Guerriero has pursued through Memoranda of Understanding since 2011 and later consolidated within the framework of the MUNA network and the SULIEIA project at C.I.R.AM. SULIEIA stands for “Supporting Universities in Digital Transition, Educational Innovation, and Environment Protection Fostering the Launch of Italian Educational Institutions Abroad”.
The event opened with institutional greetings from Professor G. Sammartino, General Coordinator of MUNA; Professor N. Mandour, Rector of Suez Canal University; Professor C. Musella, representing the
Polytechnic and Basic Sciences School; and Professor G. De Vico, Director of the Department of Biology. They expressed strong appreciation for the environmental and sustainability-related activities developed by the Departments affiliated with C.I.R.AM.
During the event, key topics were addressed, including biodiversity, food security, water scarcity, microbial ecosystems, and the impacts of climate change on agricultural practices. The meeting fostered a lively
multidisciplinary exchange among professors, researchers, and students.
Through these initiatives, the Interdepartmental Research Center for the Environment of the University of Naples Federico II confirms its strategic role in building shared pathways for research, education, and
international cooperation on global sustainability.
