The C.I.R.A.M. International Master Workshop, titled "Innovative Analytical Methods for Monitoring Reproductive Health in Environmental Contexts," was held on May 11, 2026. This international online scientific event brought together 21 speakers, including scholars, clinicians, environmental researchers, and innovative technology experts from Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America, to discuss the most pressing interdisciplinary challenges of our time, addressed with new tools. The workshop was organized by C.I.R.A.M. Director Giulia Guerriero of our University, in collaboration with Professor Mohamed Banni of Sousse University, Tunisia, a partner in the Sulieia project. The event represented an important opportunity for international scientific discussion and cooperation in the fields of environmental toxicology, reproductive health, biodiversity, molecular biology, bioinformatics, metabolomics, and advanced analytical technologies (program), as well as for training the Master's students. The event was dedicated to the memory of Professor Loredana Assisi, a scholar of the endocrine control of reproduction, who passed away prematurely in December 2024.

On November 2, Report (Rai 3) aired an episode dedicated to the Land of Fires in Campania. Journalist Bernardo Iovene rigorously and clearly examined the structural causes, actors, and environmental and social consequences of one of the country's most complex ecological phenomena.
The report reconstructed the dynamics affecting the ninety municipalities identified by the Ministerial Decree of December 10, 2015, located between the provinces of Naples and Caserta, highlighting the critical environmental issues related to illegal waste disposal and environmental contamination.
Particular attention was paid to the municipalities of Giugliano in Campania and Acerra, areas emblematic of Campania's socio-ecological crisis.
Among those interviewed was Dr. Pasquale Pennacchio, a doctoral student in Political-Economic Geography under Professor Lucia Simonetti, Advisor to the Interdepartmental Center for Environmental Research. In his speech, Dr. Pennacchio illustrated the socio-spatial characteristics of the phenomenon, highlighting how the Land of Fires still represents, today, a territorial context in which environmental, economic, and social contradictions are intertwined, particularly linked to the area's productive characteristics and the critical issues of the waste cycle.
The Interdepartmental Research Center, IRCEnv (CIRAm) sponsored the event" Mappe e scarti. A tavola con la geografia/Maps and scraps. Dining with geography on the occasion of Geonight (and day), an international event promoted by EUGEO and supported by the International Geographical Union.
The initiative, held on 12 April 2024 at the Istituto Comprensivo Pascoli in Secondigliano (NA), was promoted by Lucia Simonetti (Councilor on the Board of the Interdepartmental Research Center for the Environment, CIRAm), Alberto Corbino and Stefano de Falco (Disp Unina) and Fabio Amato (Dsus Unior), was strongly supported by the Headmaster of Pascoli.
The objective was to reflect on food as a resource, value, symbol, through a seminar-workshop involving secondary school students and teachers. The choice to bring Geonight to a school in Secondigliano, one of the most difficult suburbs of Naples, was motivated by the profound belief in the need to introduce younger people to the study of geography as a tool to promote active citizenship and "take care" of the own territory, community, environment.
